Yes, pets are permitted to fly on many international flights, though there may be limits to how and when. When flying abroad, small dogs may also be able to fly in the cabin if they can fit in a travel carrier under the seat. However, this is often limited to flights of less than eight hours. And some countries won’t permit it at all, instead requiring all animals to fly in the cargo hold.

Bigger animals, or those airlines that don’t permit in-cabin pets, will fly in the cargo hold in an airline-approved pet carrier or kennel. This is generally very safe for your pet.

Prior to COVID-19 most international airlines would transport pets. However, since March 2020, many of these airlines face restricted services and have suspended or cut back on their pet programs. We are still working with some wonderful airlines, however. And we’re constantly reviewing the services offered to stay informed of what we can do for you.
